A visit to Domaine Chandon can easily be incorporated into a day spent exploring this beautiful area with its hills, forests, the famous animalsanctuary at Healesville and many other wineries with cellar door and restaurant facilities.
When Moet & Chandon purchased the Green Point property, the original homestead, built around 1880, was renovated and a purpose built winery located next door. The architecture is a marriage of modern architecture with traditional features of Champenoise tradition.
A visit to Domaine Chandon is often described as ‘the highlight of our Melbourne visit’. The visitors’ centre, located at the Green Point vineyards, is open daily from 10.30 am. to 4.30 pm.
Guided tours start each hour and take visitors through the exhibition area, winery and ridding hall where the traditional ‘methode champenoise’ is explained.
The tour ends in the spectacular Green Point Room where you can purchase a flute or bottle of Domaine Chandon wine and sample the accompanying gourmet platter while overlooking the most seductive views in the Yarra Valley out towards the Great Dividing Range.
